18 May AVG & AVAST Merge.
Since the early to mid 2000’s, AVG and AVAST have been market leaders when it comes to free Anti-virus programs. Having paid versions also, both companies have grown to large scale international recognition.
Avast has announced the acquisition will cost up to $1.3 Billion. Avast will purchase all ordinary share of AVG for $25.00 each. With this acquisition, AVG will add technical depth to their range. It is believed that Avast software will benefit greatly with the technical merge offered from both companies.
By combining AVAST & AVG, the company will now boast 400 million users, of with 160 million of those being mobile. The increased scale, will result in increased revenue and higher research budget to enable the company to hunt out viruses & malware more readily.
While this merger was complete late 2016, AVG & AVAST still run independently to capture a greater market share, however now with the information flowing between companies, you can expect a more robust anti-virus solution from both.
